Ogden Temple Winter Wedding
Weather is always something that is hard to work around with photography. This especially goes for the winter! Our weather is really unpredictable. We had it scheduled to go up into the mountains for their formal session but a huge winter snow storm hit. And since their wedding was just days later we had no wiggle room for other dates. We decided to move it to the Ogden Temple (where they were going to be married) so the roads would be better.
I got married in December a long time ago. I always wanted a summer wedding but decided I didn’t want to wait that long and winter is so pretty! Then it rained on my wedding. Not beautiful snow. Dead grass and trees and muddy rain. Where some brides would be devastated to have to take formals in a blizzard Amy was fine with it! She always dreamed of beautifully snowy photos. And the weather delivered!
The Ogden temple has a cool feature. There is a waiting room for people between the double doors so you anyone can wait without having to enter the main part of the temple. That allowed us to go in and warm up with all of our gear. (Cameras are not allowed into the temple.) We were so wet and cold by the midpoint of our session it was a lifesaver! It gave Amy a chance to fix her hair and makeup a bit from all of the wet snow.
They were married soon after their session later in the afternoon. We only had about 30 minutes of light when they came out so the videographer and I hurried! We got right into group photos. I loved her colors! Andrew and Amy both love Christmas and since they were getting married just days before they went with Christmas colors.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve photographed Amy’s family. I took her sisters wedding photos the summer before. I just love their family it’s always a pleasure to work with them!
