Spencer has always been one of the best kids I know. Always kind and helpful. When I married my husband he was my new little 4 year old nephew. Now he is 18, graduated from high school and about to head to Argentina on his 2 year mission for our church! The two people that are going to miss him the most are his mom and my little 3 year old Easton. Spencer is his best friend- at least that is what Easton tells me on a daily basis. He is going to be so sad when he realizes Spencer is gone. He makes Spencer follow him around and talks to him all about pirates every time we see him.
It was kind of hard to find the right day to do his mission pictures. They live in Wyoming so it isn’t often they are in town. We decided the weekend of Easter would work. It was such a beautiful day! Until we got up to the temple. Then the wind started blowing so hard. Which I guess is fitting since he is from Wyoming. It’s always windy there! We had a heck of a time trying to get a photo of him holding the flag!
No matter what your religious belief is I’m pretty sure everyone can appreciate that sacrifice these young kids make going out on a mission. 18 years old, just out of high school with their whole lives ahead of them. They leave their family and friends, put school and work on hold, and go somewhere in the world to give service to people they don’t even know. They don’t even get to pick where they are going! Spencer is from a town with one traffic light. He is headed to one of the biggest cities in the world on his mission! And learning Spanish to teach them! He is going to help a lot of people and I’m so proud of him.
