Logan Utah Wedding Photographer- Old Rock Church
This wedding changed the way I photograph weddings forever. But it wasn’t until months later that the change happened. But let me start at the beginning.
Jessica and Ryan met when Jessica moved from Preston Idaho to Eastern Oregon to play volleyball at a community college. Ryan’s mom is actually my first cousin and I was very close with their family. When his mom, Molly, asked me about photographing their wedding I was beyond excited! Mostly because I hadn’t seen many of my relatives coming to the wedding for a very long time. But by the end of the wedding I couldn’t have felt more blessed to get to know Ryan and Jessica. They are the absolute sweetest couple.
This wedding took place in December 2020 and the limited number of people allowed in temples made it hard to get a appointment. They decided to get married before Christmas and get sealed in January when they got their appointment. Seriously I love that they did this because they got to have a huge celebration for their wedding and their sealing was just a small group and all about them. So cool.
We started the day at the Logan Temple (where they were later sealed) and did their family pictures. It was cold. Like extremely cold! You seriously can’t tell in the photos how horribly cold it was. We did their first look, family pictures and wedding formals there. By far one of the best things about this wedding was the wedding party. The groomsmen were hilarious! They kept me on my toes all day!
We headed to the Old Rock Church in Providence, Ut where their ceremony would be. Jess had her beautiful sister Amanda helped her get ready. The bride suite at the Old Rock Church is so beautiful!
They had such a beautiful ceremony. Lots of laughter and tears!
After staying most of the day with everyone I knew the reception was going to be a PARTY! And I wasn’t wrong. They had a reception line for awhile then it was followed by some games. Of course they did the garter and the bouquet toss. I’ll be honest- sometimes doing a garter toss doesn’t go over as well . You have to have the right group of guys to make it work. They and the perfect group of guys! In fact they took the smallest guy and lifted him up so he could get it.
Of course they had dancing then a dance party. And a dance off between the groomsmen and the bridesmaids.
I was sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the night. I don’t know if I have ever had so much fun at a wedding before. And that is saying something!
This story doesn’t end here. A few months after this wedding I saw a notice on Facebook Jess’s sweet sister Amanda had passed away. I was so broken for them. I hurried and went though all of my photos praying I got a lot with her in them. Honestly I did get a lot. But I wish I would have had more. But how do you know? You never do. So this is what changed in me. I already tired to really document the day but now I try harder to photograph the people closest to the couple. You just never know.
Of all the weddings I’ve ever photographed this is really one of my top favorites. So grateful for my amazing extended family and that Ryan was smart enough to ask someone as amazing as Jess to marry him.
