Logan Utah Photographers- Formals- The day we took Ally and Jordan’s engagement pictures was the day after they decided to close schools due to Covid 19. I remember talking to them about how for sure everything will be open again before their May wedding! I mean that was two months away! Boy was I wrong. Ally pretty much had their wedding planned and had to replan the wedding multiple times. They are experts at rolling with the punches. She has planned receptions, civil weddings, temple weddings etc. only to replan everything again!
It only took about 5 minutes of knowing these two for me to feel like we had been friends forever. They are so easy to get along with. Jordan is getting ready to go to law school hopefully in the next year or so. At this point they aren’t offering the LSAT test for him or anyone else so he could apply to school. We were laughing about how he spent his graduation day from BYU in his PJ’s because they didn’t have graduation this year.
Ally is an expert on plants! So I send her memes all the time about needing to buy plants because I love gardening too. Little does she know she will forever be my go to on plant questions. Ally and Jordan met three years ago in a class at BYU. They have been together through many internships that have taken Jordan all over the country. Because of their long history together they are so comfortable around each other. Also notice how Jordan looks at her in these photos. It’s just my favorite.
I got a message in April from Ally letting me know they decided to push back their wedding until June in hopes that things will have opened up a little more by then. Lucky for them it was! Instead of just 8-10 people they could have up to 50. The temples were also open for them! There has only been a very select few that have been able to get married in the temple!
We were supposed to take their formal pictures at the Utah State capital building. About a week before their session they drove by only to find lots of protesters on the grounds and graffiti all over the place. We decided it would be better to use a different location which ended up working out perfectly. We were pretty much in the Wellsville mountains and boy did it have a beautiful view. The grass was so green and pretty. If you know my work well you would know I love dark green grass!
Honestly Ally is one of the most laid back brides I’ve ever met. If I asked her to jump in a lake in her dress I think she would have done it! I wanted to grab a couple of photos in this one spot but quickly realized we would have to climb a fence to get there. Jordan and I said don’t worry about it but here went Ally climbing through a fence while we held down barbed wire so it wasn’t catch on her dress. I just love her.
Last Friday was their beautiful wedding day! It ended up being such a beautiful day! Because of the Covid restrictions they only had 16 people inside the temple with them. They also could only wear their temple clothing in and out of the temple. So she had to go somewhere else to change into her wedding dress. I was not allowed to be outside the temple when they came out. Which really broke my heart! I love watching my couples exit the temple! I decided I would just go outside the gates and see if there was a spot we could grab a few photos. When I got there the gates were open so I drove in. I saw them outside and we hurried and grabbed just a couple of temple shots really quick so they would have some! Everyone needs a temple shot that gets married there right?
They had a beautiful luncheon at a park close to the Bountiful temple. It was just their close friends and family. Jordans family had it decorated so cute! Later that evening they had what her mom called a family dinner to celebrate the wedding. Current pandemic restrictions allow us to have 50 people and they did just that. We had firehouse pasta and a lot of yummy treats. Their talented sister in law made their amazing cake! I loved all of the flowers on it. Ally needed beautiful flowers with how much she loves them. I bet I smelled her bouquet 20 times that day because it smelled so good. Even though everything was low key that doesn’t mean that Ally had to miss out on any fun traditions. They had the cake, she threw her bouquet and had their first dance.
I have to say I just love these small weddings. I know it’s got to be hard on these couples but they actually get to spend a lot of time with their guests. All the fluff of the day is gone and it’s just a celebration of the couple. I feel so honored and blessed to have been apart of Jordan and Ally’s day! I just love them to pieces!
