My business totally exploded this spring. With the addition of many weddings it made my schedule out of control. As I was going through my open dates I realized I never scheduled in my mini missionary sessions. I felt really bad about this because last year I loved doing it so much. So in between all the craziness I gave away free missionary mini sessions. It was 100% worth it!

I’ll be honest. I’m always surprised more people don’t take advantage of this. Even when I was really busy I still managed to get at least 10 photos per missionary. Completely free! If someone wanted missionary photos at all and just needed a few why wouldn’t they come to this? I had some kids that haven’t even submitted their papers yet, some that were waiting for their call and many that knew where they were going . One left the week after I took his photos! By now a handful of them are already out in the mission field.

Some of the reactions to the galleries made it all worth it. So many of them were kind and grateful for the pictures. Some moms told me they were in tears looking at their child’s photos. I imagine realizing you have a son or daughter about ready to leave for two years or 18 months would do that to a mom. I want to cry just thinking about my boys going someday!

I thought it would be fun to list some of the places these kids were going to. Honduras, Brazil (three of them!) , Philippines (2), Ecuador, Peru, and lots of state side missionaries. From Texas to Virginia these kids were headed all over the US. I even had a brother and sister leaving weeks apart. One was going to Brazil and the other Texas.

I met my husband before I was old enough to serve a mission for our church (the age missionaries can leave has since been lowered to 19) and so I never went. The sacrifice these kids are making is amazing to me. Two years away from your family and friends going to a place you didn’t choose to help people you don’t even know. And I have yet to met a returned missionary that really tried to work hard that didn’t love their mission. They are so hard and yet so rewarding! I’m humbled by all these kids who are ready to get out there and help a lot of people.
