Logan Utah Photographer| Family Photography Mentorship
For years I’ve watching photographers jump head first into the business and do really well! I’ve felt really left behind and frustrated at my slow progress. It’s mostly because, ya know, I have 5 kids and they take up almost all of my time. Not only do I don’t have a lot of extra time but I am really careful with the money I spend from my business. I finally got to the point where I felt like enough was enough and I really wanted to take my photographer to the next level.
I had seen photographers do mentorships with BreAnne Weston who owns BreAnne Weston Photography and started looking into that. She is an amazing family photographer and I have always loved her style and posing. Honestly I think she is one of the top family photographers in Utah and with so many photographers that’s saying something. She actually lives pretty close to me so I reached out to her and got on her schedule.
When our mentorship session started we went over my portfolio and talked about business stuff for a while then headed out to a session she scheduled for us. She set up a adorable family of 4 for us to photograph. They have two little girls that were so sweet! The fall light was PERFECT and BreAnne showed me how she works with the light. I loved watching her work. She is so talented at what she does. I learned posing and a lot with client interaction. Especially with kids!
I kept thinking I knew the husband of the family we took pictures of and it hit me that my husband was friends with him in college. He was on the USU basketball team back in the day and he had some classes with my husband years ago. Small world!
I still go over all my notes from my mentorship with BreAnne and think about how I can use what she taught me. The more time goes by the happier I am I took the leap to get some more education. I just finished another photo workshop last week and I feel like I’m so ready to take on all my sessions I have lined up this year!
