A few years ago I kept finding random broken chicken eggs around our sheep in the backyard. I kept thinking where were these things coming from? Then I got to know our adorable new little neighbor girl Eliza. She would get eggs from her chickens and felt like the sheep might like to eat them for breakfast. This is the kind of silly and amazing little girl she is.
The more I got to know her the more my whole family just loved her. She is always so fun to talk to. No one alive loves their pet chickens like Eliza does. They are so used to being picked up, hugged and loved that when people come in their pen they don’t even run off. She loved our sheep too and was always willing to help us feed them. We were extremely sad when her family announced they were moving a few miles away. We still miss our chats through the fence to Eliza about her chickens.
When Eliza’s mom told me she wanted to get her baptism photos done last summer we spent a lot time trying to think of the perfect place to do them. The only place logical was in her grandma’s (now hers) backyard. Her Grandpa passed away last year and he loved his garden and it shows! It’s one of the most amazing yards I’ve ever seen. Having Eliza in her element picking strawberries, playing in the water and of course spending time with her chickens just fit. I pretty much followed her around to her favorite parts of the yard and let her just be herself. It was absolutely perfect and turned out to be one of my favorite sessions of the summer.
