Years ago I started my missionary headshot event. With covid I missed the last two years. This year I felt like I should do it again.
What is the missionary mini event?
First- it’s completely free. 100%. I pick a date, put the word out and and sit up at the Logan temple for two hours. I allow anyone and everyone leaving on a mission to come and get some photos taken. It is so much fun! A lot of the pre missionaries get a chance to chat with each other. Sometimes they are serving in the same country or state and have a lot to talk about.
This offer is only for one day. Otherwise people can schedule a session HERE.
Each missionary gets 7-10 (or more) photos on the Logan Temple grounds. Below is some examples.
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Boys when they are 18 and graduate high school and girls when they are 19 can choose to go on missions. For boys it’s a little more expected then girls but now the age for girls is lowed so many amazing girls have decided to go. They leave for 18 months (girls) or two years (boys) somewhere in the world that they don’t get to pick. Many speak languages. If heath is a concern boys and girls can also serve a service mission locally.
What a sacrifice! To put your life on hold to help people they don’t know. I figure me sitting at the temple for a evening is the least I can do for them and their families. And now that I have a son that isn’t to far from going on a mission it hits even closer to home for me!
By far my favorite part of the whole thing is getting to meet so many awesome kids. Ok so technically none of them are kids but to me they seem so little! I love hearing about where they are going and what language they are speaking. A lot of them knew other kids that were coming. Some were even related to them! I loved seeing so many of them getting to know each other while they waited their turn.
